Tara Violet Niami is a queer British Australian-Iranian American cinematographer and award-winning photographer based in LA. She holds an MFA from American Film Institute Conservatory in Cinematography and a BFA in photography from Pratt Institute. Tara had worked in fashion films, music videos, narrative fiction and documentary spheres.
Tara’s cinematography feature debut was indie psychological thriller-horror film EYE WITHOUT A FACE which was virtually released in Eastern Europe (HBO Central) US/ Canada (Gravitas Ventures) and the UK (101 Films). Her other credits include the social justice documentary WHO DO YOU PROTECT? which competed for best US short at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival, short film POOL which screened at festivals including the Tokyo International Film Festival, and the music video for SEE ME THRU by Madame Gandhi which screened at festivals internationally.
Tara is currently attached to several upcoming documentary and narrative film projects including queer horror film SLASHR. She is represented by Claire Best & Associates.
